It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so.

Practice is Planting Seeds
When you plant seeds in the garden, you don’t dig them up every day to see if they have sprouted yet. You simply water them and clear away the weeds; you know that the seeds will grow in time. Similarly, just do your daily practice and cultivate a kind heart. Abandon impatience and instead be content creating the causes for goodness; the results will come when they’re ready. – Thubten Chodron, “Meditator’s Toolbox” Click here to learn how you can receive a 30 minute Mindfulness Break in your home. |

Transforming Jealousy into Joy
The transformation of jealousy through the cultivation of sympathetic joy [the capacity to participate in the joy of others] bolsters the awakening of the enlightened heart. – Jorge Ferrer, “What’s the Opposite of Jealousy?” Click here to learn how you can receive a 30 minute Mindfulness Break in your home. |

I am the glowing sun under layers and layers of that which is not me. Getting to know the real ME is like peeling the layers of an onion. No sooner do you shed one whole layer that another layer is revealed.
Don’t be discouraged by this, my love! There’s no rush to peeling back all these layers. Remember, it’s the journey, not the destination that matters. After all, if all those layers just fell off in one fell swoop, you might be flooded with an almost intolerable nuclear blast of all my radiant light! Cherish the journey, letting those layers slowly peel away to reveal more and more of the fire within. Appreciate each layer as it sheds away, bringing you one step closer to freedom. Don’t rush! There’s no hurry, love. Just feel the glow of me within and nourish yourself with what is already right here, inside your own heart. With loads of love (and a few delicious onion rings), Your Inner Pilot Light – Lissa Rankin, MD, Your Inner Pilot Light Click here to learn how you can receive a 30 minute Mindfulness Break in your home. |

The Precepts
To be sure, as humans with a short life span, we cannot know the long-term results of our actions. But recognizing that what we say and do can have repercussions for months, years, or eons, and that we cannot know the “final” outcome of something we think, do or say, Buddhism, like all other major religions, has developed a set of precepts. The precepts have been compared to dikes in a rice field. They hold back and channel the rushing water of our passions so that our life is not flooded, so that smaller and more helpless creatures are not harmed and the harvest of our life’s efforts is not ruined. These precepts prohibit those actions that have a bad outcome and cause harm to ourselves or others almost all of the time. – Jan Chozen Bays, “What the Buddha Said About Sexual Harassment” Click here to learn how you can receive a 30 minute Mindfulness Break in your home. |

Beyond the Status Quo
We come to the Buddha-dharma precisely because the suffering we have experienced in the world of relativity forces us to question “conventional” truth and the status quo. – Charles Johnson, “The Dharma of Social Transformation “ Click here to learn how you can receive a 30 minute Mindfulness Break in your home. |

Everything is a facet of the one thing. Think in terms of white light shining through a prism to reveal the full spectrum of color perceivable by the human eye: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Each of these colors is part of the original whole and cannot be separated from it–turn off the light source and the colors disappear. Now apply this metaphor to the world around and within you. Everything you see, think, feel, and imagine is part of and never apart from the same Source. We call this Source by such names as God, Reality, Brahman, Allah, One, Krishna, the Absolute, and the Nondual. The list of names is long; the reality to which they all point is the same.
