Don’t underestimate the value of doing nothing, or just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering.

“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow, or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

Nothing Else to Do
The practice is to make the non-arising of grasping and clinging absolute, final, and eternally void, so that no grasping and clinging can ever return. Just that is enough. There is nothing else to do. – Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, “A Single Handful” Click here to learn how you can receive a 30 minute Mindfulness Break in your home. |

Fear is not what you think it is. Fear is not who you are underneath your facade. Fear is not the real you that you must somehow fix or improve or overcome. Fear is a very useful signal along the path to freedom. The stronger the fear, the closer you are to what you are seeking. If you want to stay “safe (i.e. stuck where you are), fear tells you to stop what you are doing, but if you want to be free, fear lets you know you are on the right track, it is a signal to push head in the same direction, to pick up the pace.

This is my simple religion.
There is no need for complicated philosophies, not even for temples. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple. The philosophy is kindness. – His Holiness The Dalai Lama Click here to learn how you can receive a 30 minute Mindfulness Break in your home. |

Confidence in Truth
From the habit of speaking truthfully confidence is acquired, since there is no need then to dissemble or conceal the truth. Moreover, the speaker of truth inspires confidence in others who come to know that they may rely implicitly on his words.?? – Hammalawa Saddatissa, “Right Speech” Click here to learn how you can receive a 30 minute Mindfulness Break in your home. |

On Diligence
Each step may seem to take forever, but no matter how uninspired you feel, continue to follow your practice schedule precisely and consistently. Innocent Consciousness
The work of Zen is to reach the ground of being, to perceive the true nature of the self, which, as it turns our, is a phantom. This is also the work of poetry, at least for me: to erode the membrane between self and the world, so that a newly innocent consciousness can emerge, one that sees what it sees without commentary, analysis, or judgment. – Chase Twichell, “Second Innocence: With Basho at Sesshin “ Click here to learn how you can receive a 30 minute Mindfulness Break in your home. |

Quenching the Fire of Anger
Like a forest fire, anger tends to burn up its own support. If we jump down into the middle of such a fire, we will have little chance of putting it out, but if we create a clearing around the edges, the fire can burn itself out. This is the role of meditation: creating a clearing around the margins of anger. – Mark Epstein, “I’ve Been Meditating for Ten Years, and I’m Still Angry.
